A ‘famous top level racing driver’ from real-world motorsport will launch a major new esports team on Friday, The Race has learned.
The team is set to make its competition debut this weekend in iRacing’s Nurburgring 24 Hours, represented by a team of leading simracers.
The Nurburgring event is the latest in iRacing’s ‘special events’ that mirror famous real life races.
Other 24-hour long races held include the 24 Hours of Spa and Le Mans, the latter taking place a week after this year’s real life event was originally scheduled.
These races usually attract the biggest names in virtual and real world racing, with Max Verstappen taking part in the iRacing Bathurst 12 Hour event earlier on in the year.
A total of seven simracing drivers will be announced as a part of the new team over the coming days.
