F1 2026 Mexican Grand Prix starting grid with four penalties
Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson’s punishments for their practice collision are the headline penalties on Formula 1’s 2026 Mexican Grand Prix starting grid.
Verstappen drops from fourth to fifth as a result of that ruling, while Lawson was initially set to fall from eighth to ninth.
Lawson was then excluded from the qualifying results entirely for an MGU-K infringement.
Racing Bulls then decided to make a number of engine component and set-up changes that will require him to start from the pitlane.
Valtteri Bottas is taking a 50-place grid penalty for taking fresh engine components in his Cadillac. He qualified slowest in 22nd anyway but he'll start 21st because of Lawson's penalty.
