A total of 40 real-world and esports drivers will compete in the all-new VCO ProSIM SERIES to be held during the winter.

The pros confirmed to be taking part include former Formula 1 drivers Rubens Barrichello and Timo Glock along with reigning Formula E champion Antonio Felix da Costa.

A prize pot of $50,000 is up for grabs over the course of the eight-round championship run on iRacing.

Each of the eight rounds will feature a ‘Fun Race’ exclusively for the real world pros with the car and track combination not known to them in advance.

Afterward, the ‘Championship Race’ will team up a pro driver and a sim racer with a driver swap occurring in each race to make sure both drivers in each team get their go behind the wheel.

All of the championship races will use a Dallara Formula 3 with identical setups.

The 40 ProSIM pairings registered for the full season will be eligible to score points and win prize money.

At each event, there will also be guest appearances from ‘wildcard’ teams, who will not score points or be eligible for any part of the prize pot.

The championship will run from November to February with the ProSIM draft taking place on November 6 to decide the driver pairings.

Qualifying for the sim racers to earn their place in the draft starts on October 29.

“I find the way that sim racing has developed mega exciting.” said Timo Glock, VCO’s Pro Ambassador.

“During lockdown, I was heavily involved with this subject and actually took to the virtual track myself, the whole platform has great potential.

“Many of today’s racing drivers really enjoy sim racing and spend a lot of time on it.

“Personally, I really got a taste for it during a charity race with Rubens Barrichello, after that, I teamed up with VCO.

“Together, we came up with the idea of launching a combined championship, with a focus on drivers from both worlds and having fun together.

“I am very excited about the first season of the VCO ProSIM SERIES and everything that follows.”
