Podcast: What can Williams hope for from 2020?

The new Williams FW43 hit the track on Monday, meaning the team has already avoided its late start of 2019, but the latest edition of The Race F1 Podcast doubts the car is a big enough step forward.

Williams was a desultory last in the constructors’ championship in 2019 with the team always planning to produce an evolution of the unsuccessful FW42 this year.

Despite significant changes to the car, including solving last year’s weight problem, Gary Anderson, Glenn Freeman and Edd Straw aren’t convinced it’s a big enough step forward.

But that doesn’t mean this will be a wasted season, even with 2021 around the corner, for the car will be a key test of Williams’s attempt to fix its problems even if it is condemned to the lower reaches of the grid.
