Breakout IndyCar star and new McLaren Formula 1 recruit Colton Herta joins The Race IndyCar Podcast this week.
The Andretti IndyCar star – who will drive a 2021 McLaren car this year – discusses his chances in F1 and coping with the stresses of being linked to McLaren and Andretti’s own F1 team while trying to focus on becoming a consistent IndyCar title threat at the age of just 21. Herta’s podcast appearance was recorded just before McLaren went public with details of their new relationship.
He also explains what can make him so dominant in particular IndyCar races, becoming a team leader at Andretti and debriefs his fourth place in the St Petersburg opener and what that means for the 2022 season.
With IndyCar set for its first oval race of 2022 next weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, Herta criticises the media for misinterpreting his oval form last year – but agrees winning on one is a key target for him this season.
