F1 unveils timetable for sprint race debut at British GP

Formula 1 has announced the timetable for the first running of its sprint qualifying Saturday race format at the British Grand Prix.

Silverstone is one of three events this year where the grid for the grand prix on Sunday is set by the results of a 100km race on Saturday, in which the top three finishers will score points on a 3-2-1 basis.

Qualifying for the sprint race will take place on Friday, with an early evening slot at Silverstone. The qualifying sprint is late afternoon on Saturday.


Silverstone timetable

FRIDAY
FP1: 1430-1530
Qualifying: 1800-1900

SATURDAY
FP2: 1200-1300
Sprint Qualifying: 1630-1700

SUNDAY
Race: 1500


The format will be used again at Monza in September and an end-of-season flyaway race, the identity of which is yet to be finalised.
