Josh Rogers and Mitchell deJong won for the first time in the BMW SIM GT Cup and guaranteed their place in the BMW SIM Live final at the end of the year, while Max Verstappen was involved in a collision at the front of the field.

As usual, their biggest competition was Team Redline, who’s drivers had won both of the earlier races.

Maximilian Benecke was the second-fastest in qualifying and behind only the Coanda Simsport driver of Rogers who started from pole position and Silverstone.

During the mandatory pit stop and driver change, the Team Redline Red duo of Benecke and Enzo Bonito opted to change all four tyres and had a longer stop than the rest of the frontrunners who only changed two tyres.

The extended stop put Bonito out into fifth place but quickly cleared the Team Redline Blue driver of Jonas Wallmeier to take fourth.

With 20 minutes remaining in the two-hour race the extra grip Bonito had helped him to close up to the back of Chris Lulham and Mack Bakkum who were scrapping for second place.

After easily passing fellow Team Redline driver Lulham, Bonito was able to get in front of Bakkum under braking for Brooklands to take second place.

The move by Bonito forced Bakkum out wide on exit from the corner which compromised his run into and around Luffield, dropping Bakkum behind the other Team Redline driver of Lulham and into fourth.

In clean air and with comparatively fresh tyres Bonito closed the nine second gap to leader deJong down to three seconds, but ran out of time to challenge for the victory.

The $1200 earned by each driver for the race win means Rogers and deJong have gained $1800 each from the first three races in this iRacing championship.

Max Verstappen was present for the third BMW SIM GT Cup round in a row and did the first stint in the Team Redline Orange car after qualifying in fourth place.

However his running at the front came to an end after Coanda’s Ayhancan Guven went into the side of Verstappen’s car at The Loop and pushed the Dutchman wide of the corner.

The contact, and damage sustained from it, meant Verstappen was in 14th when he pitted and handed the car over to his team-mate Gianni Vecchio.

In the final half of the race, Vecchio worked his way up to eighth place and as the lowest placed of the four Team Redline entries.
